The Glue That Binds the Yankees Logo and the Dodgers Uniforms — 7 Comments

  1. I always though the top hat emblem looked out of place for the Yankees. Granted, the name conjers up patriotic images, but unlike say the Dallas Cowboys with America’s Team, the Yankees never hyped the red, white and blue angle.

    • I always thought the top hat & bat thing was more a nod to the Jimmy-Cagney-style ‘I’m A Yankee Doodle Dandy’ razzmatazz. Strange as it is to contemplate, there was a time when even Yankee fans didn’t take the business of entertainment as a quasi-religious experience and foundation of self-esteem and civic pride. Back then it could be just, you know, fun.
